Review of Aldi’s Hanging Egg Chair (2022)

Is it worth the hype?

In short: yes, yes it is.

I’ve had my eyes on Aldi’s popular hanging egg chair since they were all the rage last summer, and for good reason too. Not only is it the cheapest hanging egg chair out there (garden furniture is expensive!) but it’s also good quality and looks fab too.

Top tip: sign up to aldi’s email list so you’ll be Notified Of future restocks!

My chair was couriered for free by Aldi in a giant cardboard box and deposited right outside my door. It was super easy to put together; the egg shaped seat comes fully formed, and it’s just the stand that needs any sort of assembly. It’s very simple and just involves popping in a few screws and hanging the rattan egg on at the top.

I’m really pleased with the quality of the finished chair. It’s really comfy, and perfect for curling up in with a book while it swings gently in the breeze. It’s really easy to customise too and my favourite way to style the chair is with my lovely yellow throw. My neighbours are hugely jealous and I’ve heard some of the local children asking their parents if they’ll buy them one when they walk past.

One of the only criticisms that I can think of is that the chair doesn’t come with a cover, and I’m not sure how durable it’ll be out in the rain. I’m planning on covering it in some tarpaulin and keeping it in the shed, which is an easy fix, but I do wish that it had come with its own cover. As I said earlier, the egg shaped seat is very large and doesn’t dismantle in any way, so make sure that you have enough space to store it in inclement weather.

Now, if you’re planning on treating yourself to an Aldi egg chair this summer then you’ll need to be tactical about it, as any time they restock their website they sell out in minutes. Fortunately, there’s an easy way to make sure you get your hands on one. Head over to the hanging egg chair webpage and sign up for email notifications. Once you’ve done that they’ll keep you in the loop for future restocks, so you’ll know when to be poised ready to purchase. I was up at 8am and they sold out within 10 minutes, so make sure you’re prepared for the site to be swamped with customers.

If for some reason you’re still on the fence, I’ll tell you straight: I highly recommend that you get one of these egg chairs for your garden this summer. You won’t regret it!
