How to sell on WeBuyBooks.com

Have you ever wondered how to make money from your unwanted books?

Perhaps you thought about setting up an Amazon shop, or selling your old books on Depop? There are lots of different options out there, but today I want to tell you about WeBuyBooks – which is the service that I use and can highly recommend.

WeBuyBooks does exactly what it says on the tin, they buy your old books! It’s very simple: you sign up on their website, and type in the ISBNs (that’s the 13 digit code on the back of your book just above the barcode). They’ll tell you whether or not they are purchasing that particular book at the moment, and give you a quote. For some books they’ll pay out a small amount, and for others they’ll give you a lot more! For this reason, it’s best to approach selling to them with a big stack of books. Even 50p adds up, and I’ve received £5+ for some titles.

Pros

Their website is really easy to use and I’ve found that payment is very prompt. Once they’ve received the books they’ll check that they’re in good condition and then transfer the money to you within 3 days. In my experience, I’ve never been downgraded for the condition of any of my books.

Cons

Of course nothing’s perfect and there are a few downsides to their service: some books really don’t sell for much money at all, not all books are accepted and they use Hermes as their default courier, who are not the best. You can book a free collection for your books, but you will need to wait in all day as you can’t book a specific time slot for your chosen day.

How much can you make?

Well, that depends. In the past I’ve made £47.22 for 48 books, but it all comes down to how much your individual titles are worth. WeBuyBooks particularly like textbooks, which is something to keep in mind, and they also purchase games, CDs and DVDs! The books that they accept also change over time, presumably due to supply and demand, so you can just keep any leftover books for the next time you go to sell.

Overall, I love WeBuyBooks. It’s a great way to have a clear out and make some money too. You know, ready to buy more books of course!
