Inside Edinburgh Castle

During my last trip to Edinburgh I FINALLY got to visit the castle! Many of you will know that I love a good castle, so it was lovely to spend a few hours wandering around this one, which is located right in the centre of Edinburgh.

The best thing about my visit was that I got to learn about some Scottish history. As I wandered around there were lots of plaques and signs to read, and the castle is also home to the Scottish War Museum which is definitely worth a look around. They even have a King James Bible, which is known as one of the most influential books in the development of the English language. Pretty cool, eh?

Looking at the castle itself, little is left standing of its original structure, but what is there makes for great viewing. Pictured is the Great Hall, which has served many different purposes over the years, ranging from a ballroom to an army garrison. There’s also the Scottish National War Memorial to visit, Royal Palace and St Margaret’s chapel, as well as fabulous views over the city.

Tickets cost £15.50 for a standard adult ticket, with various deals for families and Historic Scotland members, and must be booked online before your visit. They are currently operating at a limited capacity to ensure that social distancing measures can be safely in space.

It’s truly a lovely spot in a beautiful city, and definitely worth visiting during any trip to the city of Edinburgh.
