Jellycat Collection Review - Are They Worth the Money?

I started my Jellycat collection in 2023 after being introduced to the soft toys on TikTok, where they are hugely popular. In this post I will introduce you to the brand and walk you through my collection so far, answering the question: are they worth the price tag?

What Are Jellycats?

Jellycats or ‘Jellies’ are soft toys that are made from snuggly fabrics and with unique, often quirky, designs. The company was founded in London in 1999 and prides itself on being a premium toy manufacturer. According to their website, Jellycat toys are ‘softer, subtler and long-lasting’ than other toys, and that’s something that I’d agree with. I’ve owned a lot of soft toys in my life, but the softness of a Jellycat is next level. The quality of their materials also means that they’re safe for children and adults of all ages, including newborns, and can be enjoyed by all.

Another stand out Jellycat characteristic is the quality of their designs, which are incredibly diverse but also very cohesive. Some designs are brand staples and there is now a expansive collection of Bashful Bunnies and Bartholomew Bears - two of the company’s most iconic designs along with Jack the Cat, who features in their logo. The Amusable line is also popular and features soft toy versions of objects, food, drinks, sports, and plants, amongst others. New designs are released regularly throughout the year, meaning that there’s never a shortage of toys to add to your collection.

Many people collect Jellycats due to their cute aesthetic and luxurious feel, which is the exact reason why I picked up my first Jelly. They’re so soft that they beg to be snuggled, and offer a comforting sensory experience that brings me back to my childhood. In a stressful world, it’s fun to be part of a community that celebrates our inner child and finds joy in something as simple as a soft toy.

I bought this little guy during a trip to West Grinstead when I wanted a spring themed Jelly for my collection.

Amuseable Cloud Bag

Another Vinted find, this Cloud Bag Jelly is a great accessory and makes a quirky addition to my spring/summer outfits.

My Verdict

If you’ve read this far, you’ll know already that I’m a huge Jellycat fan. While they do have a higher price point than other soft toys, I believe that they make up for this in quality, and I’m yet to find a toy that matches the softness of a Jellycat. For me, this makes them worth it. It’s also worth noting that Jellycats tend to hold their value over time, with prices rising as designs are retired, making them very collectible.

If you’re still unsure, I recommend visiting your local toy shop to see them for yourselves. I guarantee that you’ll fall in love with Jellies once you see them in person and feel just how famously soft they are.

Where Can You Buy Jellycats?

If you know which specific Jellycat toy that you’re after, or would like to have a general browse, then I recommend visiting their official website. This is where you will find all of their new releases, and can peruse the different collections.

If you’d like to see the toys in person, then Jellycats are stocked at a variety of toy shops, gift shops and department stores around the world. You can find a stockist near you on their website using their store locator.

For a unique Jellycat experience, I’d recommend visiting Selfridges department store in London, which stocks an enormous collection of the toys. They’re also known to host special events, such as the Jellycat Afternoon Tea, which was available throughout December of 2023.
