Inside Den Lille Bokbutikken - Bookshop Review

Translated as The Little Bookshop, I stumbled upon Den Lille Bokbutikken while stopping in Haugesund during a Norwegian Fjords cruise.

In the centre of Haugesund, just a short walk away from the cruise port, you’ll find this gorgeous independent bookshop. Specialising in English language books, it’s very easy to spot as there’s a classic British style telephone box standing right outside. While the exterior might look cute, the interiors are absolutely stunning. There’s a reason why this is the most popular bookshop on my Instagram page!

The owners of Den Lille Bokbutikken have clearly put a lot of thought into both the decor and the stock, with a wide variety of books available to peruse for children and adults alike. For a relatively small shop it contains a huge variety of genres, including fantasy, sci-fi, historical, crime, comics, manga, and classics, so there really is something for everyone. They also sell other book related merchandise including tote bags, puzzles and tarot cards. The shop even has a resident bookshop dog named Edward and a bookshop cat called Henry.

As the books are all imported, they are a bit more expensive than those that you find in the UK, so bear that in mind before you visit.

Opening Times:

Den Lille Bokbutikken is open from 10am - 6pm Monday - Friday, and 10am - 4pm on Saturdays. They are closed on Sundays, although they do apparently open some Sundays in December so it’s worth checking before you travel.

Make sure you leave a good hour or so to spend browsing in the shop, as it’s not somewhere that you’ll want to leave in a hurry!

How to Find the Bookshop:

Located in the centre of town, it’s an easy 20 minute walk from the cruise terminal and less than a 10 minute drive if you’d prefer to get a taxi.

The full address for the bookshop is:

Haraldsgata 153, Haugesund
