When I first saw the Outin Nano Portable Espresso Machine, I couldn’t believe that something of this size could make a decent cup of coffee.

As my partner and I love to travel and are always on the go, I knew that I needed to try it for myself and see if it lived up to the promising marketing materials.

My first impression was positive - the machine is lightweight and the teal colour is aesthetically pleasing.

Upon actually using the machine, I found the Outin Nano to be a great product. I particularly loved that the machine is self heating, meaning that you don’t need access to a kettle. That coupled with its small size means that it’s possible to brew coffee absolutely anywhere. All you need to do is add water and a coffee pod, although it also has the option to use ground coffee if you prefer. I particularly like how quiet it is, only making a small amount of noise when the coffee is released, and that it doesn’t make any mess. Plus, the coffee itself tastes great!

We have previous experience using a similar portable espresso machine, the Wacaco NanoPresso, which is also Nespresso pod compatible. While it is slightly cheaper, the Wacaco machine is not able to heat water like the Outin Nano, and the coffee has to be manually released by pumping. The Outin machine, on the other hand, is automatic and doesn’t need hot water.

How does it work?

Brewing coffee on the go with the Outin Nano is easy and involves four steps:

1) Remove the colourful part of the machine and add a coffee pod (or ground coffee if you prefer)

2) Remove the lid from the top of the machine and add water

3) Press the button on the front of the machine and wait 3 minutes for the water to heat up

4) Hold the machine over your cup and wait while the espresso is released

How much does it cost?

At the time of writing, the Outin Nano Portable Espresso Machine costs £114.22 to purchase on their website.

The machine is also available in a range of colours including teal, space grey, forest green, fuchsia pink and pearl white. They also sell a variety of accessories on their website, although these aren’t essential.

Should you buy it?

I can honestly say that this is a great product. It works brilliantly and is ideal for anyone who enjoys hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. It’s also a great choice for people who love to travel, and is particularly handy for anyone who works outdoors and doesn’t have regular access to a kettle.

On the other hand, this machine probably isn’t for you if you like coffee but don’t enjoy drinking espresso. While you can use the machine to make additional varieties of coffee, such as lattes and cappuccinos, the machine itself specifically produces espresso and does not contain milk.

Thanks again to Outin for sending me their portable coffee machine in return for a review.
