Review: Should I Buy From Patch Plants?

So you’re thinking about buying some new plants, and you’ve seen a few people mentioning Patch Plants online. Should you purchase your new blooms from them?

Patch was launched by their founder, Freddie in 2015, shortly after he began his own journey into the world of gardening. Freddie’s desire to make plant keeping an accessible activity for all really propelled Patch, and they were the first plant company that I ordered from when beginning my own journey in 2020.

Below you can see a few of the lovely plants that I’ve had delivered by them. My Devil’s Ivy on the right is one of my absolute favourite plants, and the Christmas tree on the left made a lovely addition to my flat during the festive season a few years ago.

The Patch website is very accessible and makes it easy for the novice indoor gardener to select some suitable plants for their home. Not sure which blooms to buy? No problem. You can peruse your potential purchases by room: whether that’s a bright living room, humid bathroom, or shady hallway. It’s so important to choose plants that work with the space you want to keep them in, and the Patch website makes it really easy to do that.

As well as being able to shop by room, you can also search through plants by size and character. Additionally, there are lists of recommendations for those who are after plants with particular characteristics, whether that’s popular ‘unkillable’ plants such the Snake Plant, ‘air purifying’ plants like the Peace Lilly, and ‘shade lovers’ like a Prayer Plant. They have a wonderful, expansive range of plants and I really enjoy how each variety has been christened with its own given name - Big Ken for a leafy palm, Rapunzle for the cascading Devil’s Ivy and Rosa for a Climbing Rose.

Speaking from personal experience, I love Patch Plants. I’ve been shopping with them for a number of years now, after starting my own plant collection during the first lockdown of 2020. I’ve been consistently impressed by the quality of the plants that I’ve had delivered - they’re always of good quality, healthy and without any damage. While they’re not the cheapest online plant shop out there, they do offer great service that includes next day delivery, online advice and FAQs for caring for your new plants, and ongoing support should you encounter any difficulties.

I must confess that not all of my plant purchases have survived living in my care, although that’s much more down to me than anything that Patch have done! I do however have a few long term survivors, such as my trusty Devil’s Ivy named Rapunzle who’s been with me for a few years now including several house moves.

Happy plant shopping, and good luck caring for your new additions! Take a look at the Patch Plants website for yourself here.
