The Cauldron Brighton - Review and Photos
Here’s everything that you need to know about Brighton’s wizard themed pub, The Cauldron.
I recently visited Brighton to celebrate my 30th birthday, and discovered The Cauldron when I was looking for fun things to do.
Although it may look like an average British pub from the outside, The Cauldron’s exterior is deceiving. Inside the pub is an immersive wizard themed experience with interactive elements and a bespoke cocktail menu. (It should be noted that while this is not a Harry Potter themed experience, it does in many ways feel similar to the Wizarding World and would definitely appeal to fans of the series.)
My friend and I decided to sit outside in the autumnal sunshine, and perused the various potions (cocktails) that were on offer. I decided to try the ‘Dragon’s Breath’ potion and I’m glad I did - after the drink had been mixed, one of the hosts called me inside to watch them literally set the drink on fire. They then handed me cinnamon powder to throw on the drink, which burst into flames while I chanted a magical word of my choice. It’s the sort of thing where you have to completely let go of any self consciousness and just have fun, and I thought it was great. The drink itself was a bit too strong for me but I’m definitely glad that I tried it as part of the experience.
While we did choose to sit outside, I made sure to properly explore and take in The Cauldron’s stunning interiors. There were so many features that I loved. Multicoloured clouds filled the ceiling above the pub’s entryway, changing colour when a secret button was activated with a magic wand. The animal heads in my above left photo dispense different types of drinks, and a Nintendo Switch was available for Mario Kart games. The staff were also excellent at staying in character, and made the experience fun without being cringey.
I can only imagine how great this place would be for a birthday or hen party. Like many other venues in Brighton, The Cauldron offers paid experiences that would be perfect for both small and large groups. This includes potion making classes and wizard afternoon teas, although you can also pop in for a drink without booking like we did.
How to find The Cauldron
You can find The Cauldron just a short walk away from Brighton station. Local buses also stop nearby.
Brighton is notoriously difficult for parking but if you do prefer to drive there are a few car parks nearby (although these might be expensive).
If you’re not local to Brighton you’re in luck - The Cauldron is actually part of a chain with branches in Edinburgh, London, New York City and Philadelphia.

Opening times vary depending on the day. The pub opens from 5 - 11pm on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 3pm - 12am on Fridays and Saturdays, and 12 - 10pm on Sundays.
