Reviewing the Nespresso Vertuo (Plus) Coffee Machine

Our Nespresso Vertuo is the kitchen gadget that I didn’t know we needed.

I’ve always been a builder’s tea kind of girl: strong, no sugar and with a splash of milk. When it comes to coffee, I generally prefer the kind that comes from Starbucks with whipped cream and a serious sugar rush (pumpkin spice anyone?!) So when my partner turned around one day with the Nespresso Vertuo in his hands, I was sceptical to say the least.

A few weeks on, and I’m loving having my own personal coffee machine. It’s so easy to use - you just pick up your Nespresso pod of choice, pop it in the top of the machine, press start and machine will turn it into warm, delicious coffee. The great thing about the Nespresso Vertuo is that you can make your coffee as fancy as you want, and completely personalised to your taste. Prefer strong black coffee? Not a problem. Rather have a sweet coffee with vanilla syrup, frothed milk and a sprinkle of cinnamon? Not a problem (although the frothy milk does require a milk frother to be bought separately, and the cinnamon needs to be sprinkled manually). I haven’t given up tea completely, but I have been converted into taking a morning cup of coffee before I leave for work.

One thing that I really like about the Vertuo is that it doesn’t make any mess. Used pods are tipped into the back of the machine, and the water tank is easy to fill up too. The design is seamless, easy to use, heats up quickly, and doesn’t give me a whole load of extra cleaning to do.

The only downside to consider is that with the Nespresso Vertuo you can only use the coffee pods specifically made by Nespresso, so you can’t purchase alternatives from other brands. It’s not a dealbreaker for me, but is definitely something to consider if you’re thinking about purchasing the Vertuo.

so how much are These machines then?

Surprisingly, the Nespresso Vertuo Plus won’t break the bank, and you can pick one up for a very affordable price. It’s just £108 for the black model on Amazon, and their current offer (at the time of writing) comes with 100 free capsules and a two month Nespresso subscription. I have the silver version, which is currently for sale at around £109 (prices are correct at the time of writing).

As I love a sweet, syrupy coffee, I’ve started a collection of my own syrups, complete with pumps like I’m actually in Starbucks. You can pick them up cheaply on Amazon too.

I currently have:

Hazelnut, Salted Caramel, Vanilla and Orange.

If you’d like to have your own little Starbucks setup at home, you can buy a lovely stand for your syrups here, and pumps for the bottles here.

As for the pods themselves, there’s an extensive range available both on Amazon and the Nespresso website, all of which come in luxurious chocolate box-esque packaging, meaning that making your morning cup of coffee feels like a real treat.

P.S purchasing using my links means that I may get a little commission from Amazon at no extra cost up you!

How do you take your coffee?
