Tatty Devine Jewellery Review

(Disclaimer: These items were very kindly gifted to me for free by Tatty Devine, however, all opinions are my own)

Wearing the Ace of Hearts Card Pendant at Hay Festival!

As a book lover, I’m always on the hunt for unique book themed jewellery, clothing, and household items to showcase my love of literature.

So when Tatty Devine launched their World Book Day 2024 collection, I was very excited to get my hands on a few of their pieces!

In this blog post I will show you what their jewellery pieces actually look like, whether I think they’re good quality, and if they’re worth spending money on.

About Tatty Devine

Established in East London in 1999, all of Tatty Devine’s products are designed and handmade in the UK. Their founders, Harriet and Rosie, started the company after graduating from art school, when they felt inspired to create unique jewellery that just wasn’t available in the shops.

Now the company creates around 300 new jewellery pieces each year, ranging from pendants and statement necklaces to broaches, rings and earrings. They also collaborate with a wind range of fantastic brands, including Bowie, Frida Kahlo, World Book Day and the Terrence Higgins Trust.

You can find out more about the founders and their team on their website here.

The Products

All three of the products I received

As part of our collaboration, Tatty Devine sent me two small pendants and one large statement necklace from their World Book Day 2024 collection.

The specific necklaces that I received were the World Book Day Bookshelf Necklace, which costs £90, the Ace of Hearts Card Pendant, which costs £25, and the Cheshire Cat Pendant, which costs £30.

Something worth noting is that 10% of all pieces sold from this line is donated to the World Book Day charity to support children who are learning to read, which is lovely.

My review

Each piece of jewellery arrived safely, wrapped in tissue paper and placed in individual boxes to avoid being damaged. I was initially attracted to Tatty Devine due to the vibrancy and detail of their designs, and I was pleased to see that their products were just as striking in person.

Tatty Devine prides itself on the quality of their items. I liked how they use laser cutting techniques to create the pieces, which has resulted in smooth, distinctive acrylic shapes which are then layered to create the finished design. The Ace of Hearts and Cheshire Cat Pendants both use a pretty marbled design, with small details that are inked on by hand.

I absolutely love both of these necklaces - they’re small and dainty enough to wear with a wide variety of outfits for a range of occasions, and will be easily recognised by any Alice in Wonderland fan! These two pendants come attached to a silver plated chain with a clasp that’s easy to fasten.

The Bookshelf Necklace

While I loved the two smaller designs, the Bookshelf Necklace is the real showstopper of the three. It’s clear that each book has been individually cut out and attached to the shelf by hand, with lots of small added detailing. If you look closely, you’ll see that some of the spines are titled with a particular genre, including ‘Romance’, ‘Fantasy’, ‘Magical Realism’, ‘Thriller’, ‘Mystery’, Horror’, ‘Science Fiction’ and ‘Poetry’. I really like this choice as it’s broad enough to have a wide appeal, rather than containing more specific titles that I may not have read. Other books on the shelf forgo titles and are simply decorated to resemble pretty, classical designs. This larger necklace comes attached to a gold chain and is perfect for a special occasion. I first wore mine at a literary festival and was pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to style. It’s safe to say that I will be wearing all of these three necklaces a lot!

Are they worth the money?

In my opinion, yes, these Tatty Devine necklaces are definitely worth the money. It’s clear that a lot of thought has been put into developing the designs, and each has been executed beautifully. The pieces sit at different price points for different budgets, meaning that there is something for everyone. There’s also a lot of different designs to choose from; while I was fortunate enough to be sent three of them, there’s also a stunning Alice in Wonderland statement necklace, and a variety of other designs in their World Book Day Collection.

The brand also has many other bookish designs outside of this line, so if you’re looking for bookish jewellery you’re definitely in the right place! It’s definitely worth giving their website a browse as there are lots of lovely designs and products to choose from, depending on your preference.
