Blooms Cafe in Emsworth - Review
Tempted by their delicious looking hot chocolates and Instagram worthy decor, I stopped by Blooms Cafe to give their brunch menu a try.
Located just a short walk out of Emsworth town centre, Blooms Cafe is based on the same site as the Emsworth B&B Hotel.
Their new premises, the tea room, is located inside the hotel, while their previous space remains for visitors with four legged friends (dogs are not allowed inside the hotel).
I can imagine that this is a lovely place to visit in the summer, with lots of outdoor seating and a quirky bus available too.
Upon walking inside, it’s clear that the owners have put a lot of thought into the cafe’s appearance. The decor is stunning, with a floral theme that reflects the cafe’s origin as a florist. As I visited the cafe just before Christmas, the entire premises had been lovingly decorated, and I particularly loved the tree that had been adorned with pretty pink ornaments alongside two miniature pink trees and a reindeer.
Looks aren’t everything, of course, so I was excited to give the food a try. The menu is varied and includes a variety of brunch and lunch options, with last orders taken at 2:30pm. In addition to food, the Blooms shop sells delicious cakes and bouquets of flowers, with custom made cakes available for special occasions.
I ordered the pancakes with berries and a pink hot chocolate, while my partner opted for an oreo latte and waffles with bacon and scrambled eggs. The food arrived quickly and tasted good - the hot chocolate was topped with whipped cream and marshmallows and tasted, I thought, of strawberries, while the pancakes were fluffy and sweet from the maple syrup.
Initially I felt that the portion size seemed small, but I found that I was comfortably full after devouring my three pancakes. My partner also enjoyed his food, and actually found that he couldn’t finish everything on the plate. It’s definitely left me wanting to go back so that I can try more of their menu!
Before leaving I had a peek at the cafe’s cakes cabinet, and I have to say, they looked divine. I’ll definitely be trying one next time.
Overall, I can easily say that I really enjoyed my trip to Blooms Cafe. The decor was top notch, the food and drinks were lovely, and the staff were friendly and helpful.
My one small criticism is that I found the temperature to be slightly too hot inside the tea room - it sounds silly but I felt too warm sat in my t-shirt in the middle of December. Blooms, if you wouldn’t mind turning down the heating next time I visit, that would be great!
